Exhibition on the anniversary of the birth of Bohumil Vavroušek (1875—1939) and the publication of his Dědina (1925)

Exhibition on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the birth of Bohumil Vavroušek (1875-1939) and the 100th anniversary of the publication of his book Dědina [The Village]. The documentation of the countryside created by Bohumil Vavroušek in the interwar period is a very valuable part of the documentation archive of vernacular architecture. The aim of the exhibition is to present the circumstances of its creation and to place it in the context of Vavroušek‘s photographic work. The selection of photographs in the exhibition includes ancient rural buildings from Bohemia, Moravia, Silesia, Slovakia and Subcarpathian Ruthenia, sacred buildings, photographs from the unpublished publications Městečko [The Small Town] and Empír v Čechách [The Empire Style in Bohemia], and photographs for Literární atlas Československý [The Literary Atlas of Czechoslovakia] and Atlas československých výtvarných umělců [The Atlas of Czechoslovak Visual Artists]. ● The exhibition was prepared by the Association for the Renewal of the Village and the Small Town (SOVAMM) and the Masaryk Institute and Archives of the Czech Academy of Sciences.
